Hits Aren't Updating

Looking through my jobs, I have hits that have occurred in the last few hours, but when I check my Hits , sorting by date, there isn’t anything new in the list for about 5 hours. In the past when I’ve looked at the hits, it stays pretty true to current.

Is there any action I should be taking to dump and/or clean my hit list? Can it get too large?

There are known problems with concurrent threads storing hits to the DB which can cause the hits to get lost. They are pretty hard to debug though so you have to be patient until I have enough time.
